Waang'waray on the slopes of Mount Kwaraa provides a perfect back drop to a community that is both warm and welcoming, yet in dire need of help. Your project work includes developing educational facilities, improving agriculture and incomes in for schools and community groups, plenty of games and informal teaching. And then after the project there is the chance to join a mind blowing expedition that takes you through Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
This is your chance to experience a totally different world, living and working in rural Africa, working shoulder to shoulder with the community to improve lives. Many in the Waang'waray community live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than a $1 a day. They simply cannot afford to improve their local school. Yet without a good education the children are condemned to live a life of poverty and deprivation. By helping improve the educational environment and motivating young people we can give them the tools to fight poverty for themselves. Your help in the process, by building, painting, playing and making school fun, is invaluable.
So you thought you worked hard enough - time to go that little bit further! This is your chance to experience and explore the diversity of the real Africa, trek through jungles past stunning waterfalls, raft down the white-water rapids of the Nile, live and breathe Rwanda's culture, spot the big 5, summit a mountain and learn to dive off pristine beaches. Six weeks of adventure, adrenaline, culture and fun that you will never forget. This expedition is mind-blowing!
Six weeks volunteering on our community development project in northern Tanzania. Return home after the project or take on our exciting new six week East African expedition, exploring mountains, culture, waterfalls and beaches - get under the skin of some of Africa's best kept secrets.
"Never did I think I could see so much and achieve so much - amazing!"
