Get to know the friendly community of Wa'angwaray in northern Tanzania on our community development project. Your volunteer work includes developing educational facilities, improving incomes for schools and community groups, plenty of games and informal teaching. Learn Swahili to help you integrate! After your project, you have the option to summit Kilimanjaro, the world's highest free-standing mountain.
Schools in disrepair in the Babati region face closure without your help. Give the children of Babati the start they deserve. You will be renovating and building classrooms, improving agricultural education and income for the schools and community, as well as organising sports days and informal teaching in the local schools. The village community are friendly and welcoming and in desperate need of help. This is a unique opportunity to experience Tanzanian village life and directly help rural villages to improve the livelihoods and future of their children. Learn Swahili - and practice it buying food at the local markets.
What better way to spend the weekends? Safari-ing in one of Africa's premier game parks, relaxing on the shores of Lake Babati or traveling deep into the bush to live with the Maasai. The weekends are a great chance to let your hair down, drop an email to friends and family or take a step back and reflect on what you have managed to complete and why you are doing it. The perfect end to a week of hard work.
Take on the ultimate challenge and climb the highest mountain in Africa. You will have two weekend treks to prepare for the climb while working on the project. The climb will take 6 days and will be led by highly experienced guides through varied terrain to summit at 5895m on Kilimanjaro's snowy peak. The climb will push you to your limits but you will be rewarded with an awe inspiring view from 'the roof of Africa'!
The perfect way to finish off your incredible time in Tanzania.
