The Royal Geographical Society has once again made a number of £4,000 grants available to young geographers who, through challenging circumstances or lack of opportunity, would not otherwise be able to take a Gap Year overseas.
The grants can fund travel, accommodation and the costs of a placement such as a conservation project, an expedition or cultural exchange. Alongside this each gap scholar is provided with a mentor to help them plan a meaningful and worthwhile experience, and receives expert guidance from the RGS.
To be considered applicants must be UK students taking A-Level/Advanced Higher/IB or equivalent geography at a state school/college and submitting an application to study geography at degree level in the UK.
The deadline for applications for students completing school in 2013 and taking a year out from 2013-2014 is 5th October 2012.
Information about the grant, including full eligibility criteria is available on the RGS website – http://www.rgs.org/OurWork/Learning+and+Leading/Gap+year.htm
Please note….this grant is not connected to Quest Overseas – it is administered and organised entirely by the Royal Geographical Association. We are simply passing on information that you may find useful and that may help you take the Gap Year you’ve been dreaming about! If you have any quesitons about the grant or want to look into applying check out the RGS website.
