Many thanks to Toby Wainwright for this brief and succinct update from our Andean Exped team!
After two days visiting the Quest supported animal sanctuary Jacj Cuisi, we made are way to the pampas.
We were all on the boat for three days on the river. During the first day we all swam with a large group of pink river dolphins for about 40 minutes. To swim with the dolphins who were confident to rub themselves against us was a really cool, first time experience. We also happend to see a massive swarm of squirrel monkeys which was amazing because some of them jumped on the boat.
Next we went piranha fishing: I caught five big piranhas, George caught three normal size piranhas, Sam caught the boat and Claire a boot! On our last day, we happened to see two caiman fighting. Our guide assured us it was safe to not only touch them but jump in the water alongside them.
They were busy fighting (holding each other in a vice grip to the death) over a female and it was the highlight of the whole pampas tour.
