Here in the Quest Overseas office we always love to hear what you guys are getting up to fundraising for your projects and this year has shown some truly fantastic fundraising efforts.
Toby, heading to Swaziland in April, organised a great spa day for family friends and local ladies – with a swim and a home-cooked lunch for those who managed to make it through the snow. The day was extremely succesful and Toby raised over £500 towards his project donation. Not only that but it was very much enjoyed by those who attended. His project donation will be used to provide materials for his team to use on the project; to construct and repair community infrastructure, maintain game reserve trails, mend fences and undertake species surveys. It will also provide long term ongoing support to the Lubombo Conservancy, allowing the re-introduction of species into the parks and ongoing environmental education initiatives among local communities. Photos of the event are below!
The Villa Maria Summer team, heading out to Peru in July are also planning some great fundraising activities. Jo and Jasmine are in training for the Edinburgh half marathon on Sunday 18th April 2010. They are tackling the 13.1 miles to provide funds to build simple yet safe housing for needy single parent families in the shanty town of Villa Maria, Peru. Good luck to both girls – to offer your support visit their fundraising page – http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/joandjazz
On the same team, Sam is joining forces with his Dad to run the Haweswater Half Marathon in Cumbria on Sunday 7th March 2010, again raising money for the Villa Maria project. To sponsor Sam’s brilliant efforts take at look at his VirginMoneyGiving page – http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/samokane
