A huge happy birthday to the Quest School in Peru. |
We can’t quite believe it’s been nine years already since the doors first opened in Villa Maria, to help meet the huge demand for primary places in this over-populated area of the city. And what a transformation since then!
Since 2003, there have been a fair few changes at the School, not least our recent extension work, to enable the school to take in children up to the age of 11. This expansion was made possible by a number of supporters, including charitable trusts the Allan & Nesta Ferguson Trust and the Evan Cornish Foundation, and ex-volunteers Chantel Owen and her father Harry.
And now to celebrate and raise further money for the school, brilliant Quest School volunteer Jaymie Duke has organised ON YOUR BIKE LIMA, a 26km bike ride from Miraflores in Lima to Villa Maria. The intention is also to highlight the proximity of the affluent tourist area of Miraflores to the reality of Villa Maria del Triunfo where Quest offer subsidised or free education to currently 150 of the poorest children living in the area.
All donations will keep the school supporting the education of even more children. To donate please visit: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/onyourbikelima
ON YOUR BIKE takes place on 1st December – let’s see if we can help them reach their £500 target!
