Some of you may remember that Quest was involved in a diving project some years ago in Mozambique. This was managed by the wise and bearded Chris Williams, who has now moved on to work here in the UK for Natural England. Fortunately for him, this hasn’t meant that he has had to completely hang up his flippers, as part of his job is to work with local fishermen and diving clubs to help ensure our coastal wildlife is protected.
He has just let us know about a fantastic opportunity for anyone in the south east to learn more about diving in the UK. Details are below:
Dear Divers,
I am pleased to announce that we will be running the first Observer Course of the new year at Wittering Divers on Saturday April 17th (Course) and Sunday April 18th (2 Dives).
The course will give you a chance to find out more about the Marine Life found (like the Nudibranch above) in Sussex, survey techniques and the history of Seasearch – it is a great way to take your diving to the next level.
The course costs £35 which includes your course pack and a full days training.
On the Sunday you have the chance to put what you have learnt into practise by taking part in two survey dives – these will be managed by Wittering Divers and you can ask them about costs and equipment hire.
Please reply to christian.williams@naturalengland.org.uk if you are keen to take part as we need to ensure that we know numbers for the course and dives asap.
Additional information and dive / course plans for 2010 can be found on the http://www.seasearch.co.uk/ website.
Thanks and look forward to seeing you there!
Chris
